Former youth and sports minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman was convicted on four counts involving criminal breach of trust (CBT), misappropriation of property and money laundering linked to RM1.12 million of Bersatu youth monies.
The Kuala Lumpur High Court this morning convicted the former Bersatu Youth chief at the end of defence, ruling that the Muar MP failed to raise reasonable doubt in the prosecution’s case.
Judge Azhar Abdul Hamid today is set to hear oral submissions from the accused’s lawyers and prosecution team over sentencing against the Muda president.
Syed Saddiq, 30, is facing a maximum punishment of 15 years jail sentence, whipping and fine, depending on what the court metes out later.
