My Comments :

"Education Ministry gets RM58.7 billion in the 2024 Budget"

That is a lot of money.

How much money does the gomen spend on school books every year? I dont know the exact figures but here is something else:

• Baucar Buku MADANI 2024 – Semakan & Penebusan Mulai 31 Mei
• Gomen beri baucar buku RM100 kpd pelajar Tahun 4, sekolah menengah dan IPT
• Baucar tersebut boleh digunakan pada Pesta Buku Antarabangsa KL (PBAKL) 2024
• baucar RM100 untuk murid Tahun 4 ke atas  
• “jenis buku termasuk novel klasik hikayat Hang Tuah, novel sasterawan terkemuka"

This year there are over FIVE million students in gomen schools.

In Tahun 1 alone there are 466,799 students.

• persekolahan sesi 2024/2025 lebih 5 juta orang murid 
• seramai 466,799 orang murid berada dalam Tahun 1

This year the Tahun 4 primary school until university students can apply for a RM100 voucher just to buy novel klasik at the KL Intn'l Book Fair.

Just for argument lets say 1.0 million students apply for this RM100 voucher. That is RM100 million already! !

Of course I seriously doubt 1.0 million students would have applied for this voucher. Or even 10,000.  Plus there is no way they had RM100 million worth of books for sale at the book fair. But it shows the amount of money the gomen is willing to commit for buying novel klasik alone.

Book publishing and book printing, especially for school students and school text books is a multi hundred million Ringgit industry in Malaysia. Possibly even billions of Ringgit.

And the largest beneficiaries are the publishers and printers of books in the Malay language. There are plenty of Malay language book writers, book editors and proofreaders available. 

This is a very lucrative industry.
