Hulu Bernam coordinator post: Amanah rejects MB's aide's explanation

Hulu Selangor Amanah has rejected the explanation of Selangor Menteri Besar’s political secretary Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad over the Hulu Bernam state assembly coordinator role.

Its vice-chief Mohammad Syafiq Musa said that the division was sticking to its demands of returning the position to its deputy chief as it claimed that the decision to hand the role to Umno was made unilaterally without their consent.

After consulting their representatives in the exco meeting, he said the party found that "no final decision was made."

"What was more suspicious is that the letter was issued on May 9 while Saifuddin claimed the decision was made on May 10," he said, pointing fingers at Saifuddin over the issue.

In a statement today, Syafiq highlighted that collective agreement has always been the strength of Selangor Pakatan Harapan.

Last Monday, Syafiq revealed that the Hulu Bernam state assembly coordinator contract, held by their deputy chief Roslin Md Zin, was terminated to make way for Hulu Selangor Umno chief Mohd Isa Abu Kasim.

Syafiq added that Isa was supposed to be the Batang Kali state assembly coordinator, but that position was given to Saifuddin from PKR.

However, Saifuddin said he had no involvement and that the decision was made by the exco meeting which Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari chaired.

He asked Syafiq to refer the matter to two Amanah exco members, Taman Templer assemblyperson Anfaal Saari and Pandan Indah assemblyperson Izham Hashim, who were present at the meeting.

Renegotiation demand

Syafiq also pointed out that PKR holds the Hulu Selangor parliamentary coordinator position with Hulu Selangor PKR division chief Sathia Prakash Nadarajan in the post.

He thus demanded a renegotiation for these positions.

"We also remind the relevant parties not to practise the old 'cartel' attitude by bringing personal agendas without considering the collective interests of other partners in the (Harapan-BN) coalition," he added. - Mkini
