Plasma In Chinese Fusion Reactor Goes Past 403 Seconds.

 

The reporting about China's very rapid advances in fusion reactor technology are increasing. Almost every week now someone makes a video or writes an article about the latest achievements of China's fusion reactor technology.

One of the critical achievements is how long can the Chinese keep the very high temperature plasma "alive" inside the fusion reactor (aka the tokamak). Here is some news:

April 2023 New World Record:   In a breakthrough, the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) in the eastern Chinese city of Hefei produced and maintained plasma for 403 seconds, beating its own previous record of 101 seconds set in 2017.

In 2017 they achieved 101 seconds. Six years later in 2023 they increased the life of the plasma FOUR times to 403 seconds (almost seven minutes). If they can keep up this pace, possibly in another six years they may exceed 30 minutes. I think once they go beyond 60 minutes they will be able to sustain the plasma for extended periods. Meaning the reactor operating continuously will become a reality.

This video says China hopes to go into commercial operations by 2050. I think that is just western propaganda. I believe the Chinese will build a commercial fusion reactor long before that. Even 18 years from now (or less) is more likely.

The first Made In China tokamak began experimental operations in 2006 - that is 18 years ago. In only 18 years they have achieved 403 seconds. At that time the west was still at the FIVE second mark.

So it is not impossible that in another 18 years the Chinese would have perfected this technology. I really hope I will still be alive when the fusion reactor becomes a reality.

In the video the guy correctly says that when the fusion technology is completed, Venezuela's oil will not be needed, Indonesia's coal will not be needed, all the natural gas in the world will not be needed. Without oil revenue what will happen to the Middle East? What will happen to Malaysia?
