As of today Sunday 26 July 2026, that report has not yet been publicly released. They said they will release it but it is still an Insha Allah situation.
- Here's the sequence of events:
- 23 July 2026: we were told they had, in principle, decided to make the report public, subject to procedural checks bla bla.
OSTB: What procedure? Three years have gone by still playing procedures kah?
- report not released three years earlier to avoid undermining public confidence while its finances and governance were being restructured.
- publication could have triggered panic withdrawals by depositors.
- 23–24 July 2026: party poops publicly supported releasing report
- so depositors and public could understand its findings.
- As of 26 July 2026 (today) no confirmation report has been published
OSTB: Firstly here is a list of Insha Allah promises still not delivered:
- Prime minister term limited to 10 years. First tabled on 3rd March 2026. Then postponed to June 2026. Now 26 July 2026 still nothing. Insha Allah.
- Separation of the Attorney General and Public Prosecutor - still Insha Allah.
- Freedom of Information Act - Insha Allah
- Ombudsman Act - WT .. is that. Another Insha Allah.
- Political Financing Act - this one I can confirm GO FLY KITES.
- MPs and senior officials publicly declare assets - NO WAY JOSE.
- Equal constituency sizes / electoral reform - GO FLY KITES
MY COMMENTS: Ok lets focus on this part
- report not released three years earlier to avoid undermining public confidence while its finances and governance were being restructured.
- publication could have triggered panic withdrawals by depositors.
This is first class bull sh_t.
LETS USE A HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION.
Bank Negara Malaysia has the legal responsibility to regulate and monitor the operations of all the licensed banks in this country.
Lets say through their monitoring Bank Negara finds out that a major bank in the country is facing a liquidity crisis. Due to a. poor management b. corruption c. fraud, d. incompetence and e. all of the above the major bank is facing serious cashflow and liquidity issues. (This is just a hypothetical situation. Like a simulation ok).
Bank Negara reports to the Ministry of Finance. So Bank Negara informs the Minister of Finance 'We have detected serious cash flow problems in one of our major banks. It will certainly undermine public confidence in the bank. It will trigger panic withdrawals by the bank's depositors.'
Now the Finance Minister - being a politician and a chameleon and having suffered far too many embarrassing bungles (at least once every week) - he instructs Bank Negara 'Dont tell the public. Lets try to manage this without informing the public'.
What does this mean? It means that:
Bank depositors cannot make fully informed decisions.
Investors may continue buying shares without knowing material facts.
Delayed disclosure may allow losses to become larger.
Public confidence will be damaged when the concealment is discovered.
False or misleading statements could have been made
There could be statutory disclosure obligations applicable
Public funds were put at risk
There was a breach of fiduciary duties by somebody along the line.
OSTB: But all this was swept under the carpet. It was a big time coverup by the politicians and the regulators. But DONT FORGET - this is just a hypothetical situation. No bank in Malaysia is facing any liquidity issues.
