3.7-magnitude quake detected 88km north of Sandakan

KOTA KINABALU: A weak earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale was detected about 88km north of Sandakan, Sabah, at 10.30pm today.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in a statement on Facebook, said the earthquake occurred at 6.6 degrees North and 118.3 degrees East.

The epicentre was located 354km south of Palawan, Philippines, and at a depth of 392km.

MetMalaysia said the earthquake posed no tsunami threat to Malaysia. - NST
