Datuk Seri Najib Razak said his personal Chinese New Year message sent over the past week was to show the government’s appreciation to the community.
Many Malaysians with email accounts were surprised with a Chinese New Year greeting from the prime minister’s personal 1Malaysia.com.my blog while others received the festive greeting via SMS through the telco companies.
“This is one way for me to give my Chinese New Year greeting in a more personal manner as the prime minister,” Najib told reporters after attending the Chinese New Year open house by the MCA and Gerakan.
On social network sites such as Twitter, many expressed surprise that Najib had their email addresses, especially some who do not celebrate the festive occasion while some thought it was spam.
