I suppose at the end of the day it’s all about money. So you need to be an ex-Mufti before you speak up and tell Muslims the truth. While you are still a ‘sitting’ Mufti you will keep your big mouth shut. This is the same with ex-Barisan Nasional people who join Pakatan Rakyat. They talk a lot only after leaving BN to join PR. Before that, not a squeak from them.

“What we want to see is a multi-party democracy where, every two or three years, the [leading] party will change,” said Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan in an interview in The Guardian. 

“We’re not averse to Barisan coming back but if parties think they’re going to lose power, they behave a lot better. “[This] is about power coming back to the people. It’s about us (the people) being in charge,” Ambiga was quoted adding.

Raja boleh dikritik, kata bekas mufti

Tokoh Islam terkenal, Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin, mendakwa raja tidak kebal dari kritikan dan mesti bertanggungjawab terhadap tindakan mereka — mencetuskan kemarahan di laman sosial Twitter selepas beliau mengeluarkan kenyataan yang dikaitkan dengan kritikan terhadap keluarga diraja baru-baru ini.

Bekas mufti Perlis itu yang kini merupakan zamalah pelawat di Universiti Oxford memuji British kerana menyemak perbelanjaan keluarga diraja dan memastikan mereka bertanggungjawab terhadap pembayar cukai. Menurut Dr Asri, langkah ini baik untuk mencegah penyelewengan. 

Dalam tulisan bertajuk “Mereka Paling Mencegah Kezaliman Raja”, beliau menyatakan, walaupun keluarga diraja British memberikan sumbangan besar dalam sejarah negara tersebut, mereka (keluarga diraja) tidak dibiarkan untuk berbuat sesuka hati.

It appears like Ambiga has the same thoughts as me, although she may have not quite used the same words as I did. I too said, ideally, we should not have the same government for more than two or three terms. After two or three terms we should change the government, even if just for the heck of it. In fact, I also said that the CEO (PM and MBs/CMs) should, by law, only be in office for two terms. After two terms they get the hell out.

I also said the politicians do not fear God. Hence it is pointless to try to put the fear of God into our leaders. What they do fear is losing power, more than they fear God. Hence, if they are subjected to the fear of losing power, they will behave themselves. This is the only way to make politicians behave themselves. If not they would become arrogant and dishonest.

The politicians must also be made aware that we the people are the boss, and that they work for us. We hire them. We can fire them. We also pay their salaries. Power must be in the hands of the people, not in the hands of those who rule over us. The government must fear us, not we who fear the government.

Anyway, I can support what Ambiga said considering that I said exactly the same thing many times, although when I say it they whack me to kingdom come.

The next point, which I don’t think I need to say too much, is regarding the ex-Mufti of Perlis’s statement that it is okay to criticise the Rulers. I think I have already talked about this issue so many times so no need for me to repeat myself. I am just glad that a Mufti now appears to agree with me although the other Muftis are keeping quiet -- mainly because they need to continue to earn their salaries and enjoy their perks.

Finally, on the one million Malaysians living overseas. It seems only 20,000 of the one million Malaysians living overseas are registered voters. This means even if the government allows overseas Malaysians to vote it will do no dammed good.

And there we were accusing the government of denying overseas Malaysians their right to vote. How can you deny the right to vote of someone who is not registered to vote? That’s the problem, we scream a lot and make so much noise and accuse the government of all sorts of things. Now the government says that overseas Malaysians can vote but they still cannot vote because they are not registered to vote.

It makes me wonder if we are criticising the government because we really want to see change or because we just like criticising the government for the fun of it, sort of like getting an orgasm through masturbating. We accuse the government of denying Malaysians their right to vote. But if you are not registered to vote then you have no right to vote. So how can the government deny you your right to vote when you have no right to vote in the first place because you are not a registered voter?

Malaysians are so full of shit.
