ALOR GAJAH, Nov 10 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today said that the people must choose to maintain continuity of the country’s administration to ensure that the transformation agendas planned by the government would continue to be implemented.
He said the people could look at the voting trend in the United States where the Americans had re-elected Barack Obama as the US President for another four years just to see the continuity of his transformation agendas.
“The Americans had two choices, whether to change or maintain continuity.
“When they cannot put their faith in Republican candidate Mitt Romney’s agendas, they chose to vote for the same government because they wanted to maintain continuity and I believe it was a wise decision,” he said when opening the Melaka Rural Transformation Centre (RTC) in Kuala Linggi here today.
Najib (picture) said Malaysians should emulate the Americans in this aspect to ensure the good future of the country.
“There are certain issues where we can emulate the decisions made by the Americans, such as in maintaining continuity rather than to support uncertainties, but not in the issue of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) and the likes,” he said.
If continued to be given the mandate to rule the country at the next general election, the prime minister said Barisan Nasional (BN) government also promised not only to maintain continuity of the country’s development, but also the implementation of major transformation for the country.
He said this was because changes could be done in a blink of an eye.
“Don’t fall for the sweet promises made by the opposition as those are just empty promises that can never be fulfilled,” he said, adding that it was the people’s responsibility to choose the government capable of ensuring good future for them and the country. — Bernama
