Najib pledges more aid if BN kept in power

ALOR STAR, Jan 31 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak who arrived here at 9am today for a one-day working visit, said Barisan Nasional (BN) will strive to serve the people better if given the mandate in the 13th general election.
Najib said only the BN can bring about systematic changes and ensure growth in various sectors to enhance the income of the people and country.
“We can make systematic changes and people have the confidence in us. When there are big investments, the government’s revenue will increase and we can use the surplus funds for the benefit of the people.
“We give out BR1M, assistance to schoolchildren, university students... that is only for now. We can do more in the future if given the mandate by the people,” Najib (picture) said upon his arrival at the Sultan Abdul Halim Airport here.
Najib said drastic changes in the administration of a country would not give favourable results.
“As a result of drastic changes that cannot be controlled, the value of currency will drop, there will be inflation, tourism will be crippled and the security of the country will not be guaranteed,” he said.
Najib, who is also BN chairman, said the success of BN in administrating and bringing about rapid development to the country is proven and has earned the confidence of all, something that was evident during his humanitarian visit to Gaza, Palestine recently which made the world take notice of Malaysia’s concern for the Palestinians.
He said though the country (Palestine) was poor and oppressed by the Israeli aggression, he and his delegation were given a rousing welcome and received with open arms.
“They welcomed me with open arms because they are aware of the success enjoyed by Malaysia under BN. If we are not successful, I’m sure they will not be pleased to welcome me and the delegation,” he said.
Najib was received at the airport by Kedah Umno liaison chairman Datuk Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah, his deputy Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Chor Chee Heung and greeted by other BN leaders and supporters.
Later in the afternoon, the prime minister is scheduled to officiate the “Himpunan Orang Muda Negeri Kedah” at the Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium here.
The gathering is expected to attract about 50,000 youths from various political parties, youth organisations, students, non-governmental organisations and the silat fraternity. — Bernama
