KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak will be distributing special red packets to his fans in conjunction with the first anniversary of his “Ah Jib Gor” Facebook site and Chinese New Year on February 10 this year, starting today.
The red packets feature Najib’s caricature in a traditional Malay costume and are printed with the words, ‘Selamat Tahun Baru Cina’ (Happy Chinese New Year).
Najib expressed his heartfelt appreciation and thanked all his fans for their support and for forwarding constructive ideas in Mandarin, through the site.
“Although I’m not able to respond to each suggestion it’s enough for me to get an understanding of the Chinese community in Malaysia,” he said in the Mandarin fan site.
“The angpow packets symbolise unity and the spirit of unity among Malaysians. It’s hoped that our multi-racial communities can maintain this spirit and carry on supporting us,” he added.
Fans just need to ‘Like’ on the “Ah Jib Gor” Facebook site and send their full name and house address to ahjibgor@gmail.com and state the number of packets they want.
Each packet has five red envelopes and fans can only obtain two to five packets each, while stocks last.
“Ah Jib Gor” is the prime minister’s Mandarin language Facebook, which was started on January 16, 2012 as another platform to approach the people through social networking.
“Ah Jib Gor” is Mandarin for “Elder Brother Najib” and was created for Mandarin speakers as an opportunity to get to know the Prime Minister as an ordinary person as well instead of just as the country’s leader. — Bernama
