ALOR STAR- Menteri Besar Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir keeps the guessing game going on rumours that he is going for the Umno vice-president post in the upcoming party polls.
The son of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is keeping mum on his decision as speculation is rife among bloggers that he is contesting one of the three vice-president posts.
Mukhriz said he had to think deeply before making up his mind as he already had his hands full with his responsibilities as Menteri Besar and state Umno liaison committee chairman.
"I have three options, so whether it is vice-president or a supreme council member, I have not decided.
"I have to think seriously as the contest is all about serving the party," he said after chairing the state executive councillor meeting at Wisma Darulaman here today.
However, Mukhriz stopped short of elaborating the three options he has.
It was reported that three incumbents, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, had confirmed they were defending their posts.
Felda chairman and former Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad had last month said he would contest the vice-president post, followed by former Malacca Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam who recently announced that he would vie for the post.
