Tamil daily editor claims assault politically-motivated
The deputy editor for Tamil daily Thinakural was assaulted by four men on Tuesday, in what he believes is a politically-motivated attack.
The Star reported that the assault on Kalimuthoo Kattan took place on the same day Thinakural carried a report that leaders of an Indian-based political party had been purchasing luxury cars.
Speaking to reporters after lodging a police report yesterday, Kalimuthoo said he was attacked twice, while on the way to his home in Sungai Buloh.
In the first attack, two men kicked his motorcycle and tried to rob him, but Kalimuthoo managed to ride off.
In the second attack, closer to his home, four men on two motorcycles kicked his bike, and used a “long stick” to hit his arms and shoulders, but he managed to escape when the assailants lost their balance.
