Here are some pictures of one of the Jabatan Imigresen offices that was taken just this morning - Sunday 2nd March 2014. There were about 600 people queing up since 6:30am in the morning.
However only about 300 people "dapat nombor".
The rest were told to go to other Jabatan Imigresen offices. They were given this piece of paper listing all other Jabatan Imigresen offices in the Klang Valley.
Here are more pictures.
Hello Mr Idris Jala where are you? Where the hell is Pemandu? What happened to all your brilliant GTP, ETP, MTP, OTP, CTP plans and stuff? (M for my, O for our, C for Cabinet).
I think we should thank the Immigration people for opening their counters on Sunday. But you know (from 60 years of experience) that hundreds and thousands of people turn up EVERYDAY to apply for Passports, renew Passports etc. And not all of them turn up at Kuala Kubu Bahru.
There will be more applicants at the big cities, especially in Kuala Lumpur. And if you open the counters on Saturday and Sunday (thank you) you can expect more people on those days. So please be prepared.
Saya nak tanya sedikit soalan kepada KP Imigresen. Dato, agaknya esok berapa ribu orang yang akan datang ke Jabatan Imigresen untuk memohon paspot? You already know the answer. Kalau sudah tahu why cannot the Jabatan Imigresen make the necessary preparations to handle all of them?
Why do they have to come at 6:30 in the morning and then wait for hours and hours and then they are told that 'nombor sudah habis'?
At the place where these pictures were taken, there were about 10 Immigration officers just sitting down or hanging around doing nothing. Maybe they have other job functions. But since there are hundreds of people waiting, why not get ALL the Immigration staff to process the applications?
Apa susah sangat? Berdosa ke kalau semua staff Imigresen bantu proses permohonan?
Where are the machines? A few years ago I processed my passport through that machine. Just drop in your passport, with picture and money and after one hour the passport is ready. What happened to all that?
Kalau guna machine tak ada peluang rasuah pun.
Before that there was also a procedure where you just drop off your old passport, picture and money. They give you a slip. In a few days just drop by and pick up the new passport. Itu pun dah tak ada.
The Registration Department (Jabatan Pendaftaran) is more efficient. To renew your IC, take a number, give them your old MyKad, they take your picture, scan your thumbprint and then you can go home. In 14 days come and collect your new MyKad.
Apa susah sangat?
Saya ada soalan sikit lagi. Agaknya Menteri semua perlu queue sekali ke? Does the Director of Immigration also have to queue up to apply for a passport? No? Why not? Then why do you force the people to line up from 6:30 am in the morning? (I know you dont force them but they dont have much choice).
The gomen is breaking down. The gomen has 1.4 million staff. I know at 6:30am on a Sunday many of them are asleep, either at home or at the kuliah subuh at the nearest surau. My question is what time do they wake up?
The gomen must get up from its slumber and show a duty of care to the people - tak kira dia pakai tudung ke tak pakai tudung, isle ke buke isle, Melayu, China, India, Kadazan, Iban semua sekali. The gomen is falling down.
On the whole the ordinary citizen just hates to have anything to do with the gomen. The moment you have to deal with the gomen, it means trouble. 'Berkhidmat Untuk Menyusahkan Manusia" seems to be the motto of some of these gomen departments. I have had enough dealings with them so I know. Some make your life difficult because they want money. Rasuah.
The Jabatan Imigresen and the Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara are special cases. Thousands of citizens have to go there. They can really make your life difficult. I have a simple solution that will solve this Immigration Department queue. It has been done before by that man wearing that bowtie who is now a shareholder of Air Asia.
Just tell the Immigration officers that they cannot go home unless all passport applications for the day are processed. All applications that are complete (old passport, payment and scanning MyKad info completed) must be accepted. And there will be no need to queue up at more than one counter. Make all the counters multi-purpose.
Shut down the canteen as well. Kerja belum selesai, orang dok queue panjang-panjang macam mana pula nak pi minum kat kantin? Wake up.
