I refer to the judgment handed down by the high court yesterday 28.2.2014 in the defamation case of Anwar Ibrahim against the notorious pro-Umno blogger Papagomo.
The judgment found Papagomo (whose real name is Wan Azri Wan Deris) guilty of defaming Anwar Ibrahim; the court found that Papagomo had libelliously published baseless allegations of sexual misconduct including homosexuality against Anwar.
The High court ordered this pro-UMNO blogger to pay Anwar a hefty sum of RM800k for damages including exemplary damages plus costs of RM50k.
Judge was unable to find 'anything' that was true
The court in its judgment dismissed the allegations of sexual misconduct and homosexuality made by Papagomo as false, malicious and untrue.
At page 31 of her judgment, the Judge states "upon examination and evaluation of the Defendant's (Papagomo) evidence in its entirety, I am unable to find anything which is capable of establishing that the allegations made by the Defendant against the Plaintiff (Anwar) were true."
This includes the so-called sex videos that had been viciously played up by Anwar's opponents especially among the UMNO and BN leaders.
Even in Kajang, Umno had wanted to use sex-and-smut
We welcome this judgment as it sends the strongest signal to those especially in Umno-BN who have always resorted to dirty, immoral and underhand tactics to undermine their opponents.
This can been seen even recently when the Info Chief of UMNO threatened to unleash a ' sex and smut' campaign against Anwar during the upcoming Kajang by-election.
We call upon Najib and Umno-BN to stop encouraging and relying upon sex bloggers like Wan Mohammad Azri Wan Deris aka Papagomo.
UMNO BN must stop gutter politics and instead practice rational and constructive political discourse.
