The Selangor government will in a week's time disclose the content of the controversial memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the water restructuring deal it signed last week.
Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said the decision to do so was made following a meeting with Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Maximus Ongkili and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in Putrajaya yesterday.
This, he said, would enable the people to evaluate the deal for themselves.
“I believe the MOU can be disclosed soon. The reply from the minister was that this is general information and will not have any influence (to affect) state or national security, and so it can be done (disclosed),” Khalid said after chairing the state executive council meeting in Shah Alam today.
After presenting the MOU, the menteri besar said he would also release the initial agreement, or heads of agreemeent, that the state and federal governments consented last night that they would sign.
The agreement, according to Khalid, contains more detailed and comprehensive information on water restructuring in Selangor.
“Seeing how Selangor has already approved the Freedom of Information Act, hence, there is a process (to present the agreement),” he said.
