Even before the dust has settled on Islamic authorities stopping a Hindu wedding in Selangor, now the Penang Islamic Religious Department (Jaip) has intervened in the Chinese funeral of a 38-year-old waitress, after it was claimed she converted to Islam 17 years ago.
Teoh Cheng Cheng, was reported by The Star Online as being a Muslim and that her name was changed to Nora Teoh Abdullah.
The religious authorities took Teoh's body at about 3.50pm after negotiating with stunned family members and relatives since noon.
Her body is kept at the mortuary pending further developments.
Teoh fell to her death on Saturday and she is said to have a Malay boyfriend, reported the daily.
Last week, Selangor Islamic authorities (Jais) stopped a Hindu wedding when the bride Zarina Abdullah Majid, was said to be a Muslim.
However, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Joseph Kurup said the case is still being investigated
