IPOH: The Perak Assembly sitting continues to be bogged down by the controversy which erupted last Wednesday when Opposition members turned up in black, instead of the traditional ceremonial attire, for the Opening by the Perak Sultan and thereby incurred the Ruler’s displeasure as well.
The Sultan skipped the official photo-taking ceremony and aborted an official function with Assemblymen.
The black attire incident has now spilled over into the debate on the Sultan’s opening address.
Perak Exco Shahrul Zaman Yahya Wakil drew in other Assemblymen when he engaged in a harsh exchange of words on the black attire incident, among others, with Tronoh Assemblyman Yong Choo Kiong in the Assembly.
Speaker S. K. Devamany’s futile attempts to calm the atmosphere in the Assembly, aided by some assemblymen, ended with Shahrul and Yong spontaneously taking their exchange outside the Assembly, according to Perak Today.
