Woman finds second hubby even more abusive

The 25-year-old thought she would have a better life with her second husband after an abusive first marriage but it was a case of from the frying pan and into the fire.

ALOR GAJAH: After putting up with an abusive husband for seven years, a woman finally ended her marriage and got hitched to another man from the same village only to find him even more abusive.

“My first marriage was a bitter one. I had high hopes that this marriage would last,” Sinar Harian quoted her as saying.

Hawa, 25, from a village near Alor Gajah, divorced her first husband after seven years of abuse and got married again in March last year. She has three children from her first marriage.

She said her second husband began to show his true colours after four months of their marriage.

Hawa said a small mistake she made was enough to trigger her husband into beating and kicking her causing bruises all over her body. He even broke her nose during a quarrel.

“He also kicked my stomach even when I was pregnant,” she said.

Hawa has made 10 police reports over the past one year against her huband but no action has been taken.

The husband finally divorced her last month at the Alor Gajah Syariah Court on April 13.

Hawa has now approached the Pembela Barisan Nasional complaints bureau which has promised to help her.

Bureau director Amir Hamzah Aziz said they would provide legal aid to the woman.
