"A reshuffle is okay, but Najib must be the first to go," Dr Mahathir said during a press conference today.
He was responding to reports that Najib is considering reshuffling his cabinet after the Hari Raya celebrations in July.
Pro-government English daily New Straits Times today reported that a cabinet reshuffle might take place after Hari Raya involving some Umno ministers, which might also entail new faces being introduced.
Talk of a reshuffle comes at a time when Najib's own cabinet members, including Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, have been critical of Najib's brainchild 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), which has accumulated RM42 billion in loans in six years.
Meanwhile, Dr Mahathir also took a jibe at the possibility of the government raising toll prices this August, as reported by Malay daily Berita Harian today.
"Maybe the money from GST (goods and services tax) is not enough. They want more money to cover for the loans that they have taken," he said, in an obvious reference to 1MDB.
