Works minister says will study all views, Najib regrets Cabinet leak
KUALA LUMPUR: The government is to hold further discussions with highway concessionaire companies on proposed increases in toll charges this year.
Prime Minister Najib Razak said matters pertaining to the proposed toll rates would be decided in the coming weeks.
He said the Cabinet had not taken any final decision at its meeting on Friday. “Any leak that came out of the Cabinet meeting is not (the) final (decision),” he said. He said it was unfortunate that the matter had been hyped up in the social media.
Works Minister Fadillah Yusof said further discussions would be held with highway concessionaire companies.
He said the Cabinet had discussed the implications of such a move. “Members of the cabinet also gave their views and I will study in detail all these views before making a decision,” he said in a statement.
He urged the media not to speculate about a toll rate increase.
