Malay Economic Action Council (MTEM) trustee Rizal Faris Mohideen Abdul Kader said that while Malays had interests in small and medium businesses (SME), the Chinese economic strength has tripled.
"When it comes to the numbers, Malays are in control of every aspect of business. We have a huge number of SMEs, a majority of the workers, and we are the biggest contributor to the nation's income tax.
"But we are still incapable of standing as high and sitting as low as the other races in Malaysia, especially the Chinese who have a much stronger economic hold.
“The value of their wealth is multiple times to that of the Malays.
“We are actually very generous as we only demand 30% of equity shares in business when logically, Malays and Bumiputera have to be in control of more wealth, to be in line with the percentage of the population," he said.
He said this when speaking at the Malay Economy Conference 2015 held at the KLGCC in Kuala Lumpur today.
