BIGGEST JOKE WHEN UMNO ON ANTI-CHINESE DRIVE: Gerakan to support petition to uphold Constitution - Andy Yong

BIGGEST JOKE WHEN UMNO ON ANTI-CHINESE DRIVE: Gerakan to support petition to uphold Constitution - Andy Yong
KUALA LUMPUR - Gerakan will back a petition to protect the Constitution of Malaysia.
It was reported that a petition was created by Tariq Ismail, the grandson of former Deputy Prime Minister Tun Dr Ismail Abdul Rahman, to uphold and protect the Constitution.
Gerakan deputy Youth chief Andy Yong said the BN component party would support this initiative and was prepared to work with him for the petition.
“Regardless of race/religion, Gerakan is firm to uphold and support the sanctity of the Federal Constitution,” he told The Rakyat Post.
He said the Constitution was the supreme law of the land. It must not been tainted by politics and politicians.
“It is important for us to ensure its basic structure and fundamental values are entrenched and that it can withstand political winds.”
He commended the petition and its demands.
“The petition is a timely reminder that we must do all we can to protect the federal Constitution and the historical bargain achieved during Merdeka between all communities.
“Hence, I do hope there will be greater awareness of this via the petition.”
Gerakan deputy Youth chief Andy Yong
Yong called upon Malaysians to ensure that the federal Constitution was not violated just to suit the  fancy wishes of politicians and their agendas.
He said the Constitution would always protect the minorities while ensuring social justice prevailed.
The petition was addressed to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Council of Rulers, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Opposition leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as well as Parliament members.
The petition posted on thepetitionsite.com.prx.proxyunblocker.org, addressed issues that had “challenged and undermined the rights guaranteed by our Constitution; in particular rights such as human rights, the right to justice and due process, cultural rights as well as religious rights”. - Therakyatpost
