It is not only shocking but certainly spills the beans on how untruthful and insensitive a government under BN can get.
The story though reported to be about an event in August, 2015 brings out the harsh realities of how double-speak our leaders can be.
While the government proclaims that it is doing all it best can to protect the turtles in Sabah, here we see a photo (Malaysian Insider, 4 November, 2015), of the rural and regional development minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob dinning with his loyalists with a plateful of turtle eggs on the dining table.
And the answer he gives when asked what is he doing with the protected species’ eggs not insults right thinking Malaysians and conservationists around the planet but clearly shows how brazen and bold our leaders seem to get these days even when caught with their pants down in full public view.
He says that he was not having turtle eggs that night at the dinning event because of his anti-cholesterol medication that he is on.
Hello minister, is there no law in this country banning the consumption and possession of turtle eggs?
And mind you, as a minister how come you let the law be abused in full view and under your very own eyes?
The question is not whether you ate or did not eat the eggs. It is about what did you do lawfully as a leader when you spotted the banned eggs on the table knowing full well the laws of this nation pertaining to the protection of wild and marine life?
If ministers do not pay heed to and uphold the law, what can you expect of the law breakers who steal the endangered turtles’ eggs for sale and consumption?
In any other advanced democracy, such a politician would be not only dismissed but hauled up before the law and be punished to serve as a severe admonishment to others.
What has his boss, Najib got to say to this?
Shame on you minister! And shame on all those who are there with you blatantly flouting the laws of this nation. What a disgrace!
