Pakatan Harapan today said it would proceed with efforts to vote down Budget 2016, as well as a vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, with or without PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.
"This is a moral duty for MPs representing Malaysians because Najib's leadership is clearly troubled by scandals such as 1MDB and the (RM2.6 billion) donation into his personal accounts," the opposition pact said in a joint statement today.
The statement was jointly signed by PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu.
Hadi has said that PAS will not vote against the budget because it is the party's principle to support things that would benefit the rakyat.
Pasir Mas MP Nik Abduh Nik Aziz today clarified that the Islamist party’s 14 lawmakers would abstain from the budget vote.
Pokok Sena MP Mahfuz Omar, however, said he has yet to receive any official instruction on the matter.
PAS was left out of the new opposition pact after its fall-out with DAP led to the dissolution of Pakatan Rakyat. -Mkini
