Student proposes to girl on bended knee in school field

The secondary schools students were captured on video hugging and kissing each other in their school field while friends cheered them on.

PETALNG JAYA: While most male teens would rather die than be seen going soft on a girl, one boy proved romance was still alive and kicking.

Captured on camera, and uploaded on the 1Tamilanz Sangam Facebook page, the 15-second video shows the ultimate love proposal between a modern day Romeo and Juliet, cheered on by their friends who surround them and share in their love.

The video opens with a secondary school female student seen running towards a school field where loud cheering is heard and into the arms of her boyfriend, who is waiting for her there on bended knee.

The two hug and kiss joyously as he holds on to a small red box, presumably holding a ring.

The friends cheer, clap and ask the two to kiss each other.

Shared over 300 times and receiving over 300 “likes”, not all Facebook users however thought this open declaration of love was right with many calling it plain stupid and insulting.

One Facebook user Carlos Daniel said the proposal was not only stupid and not in keeping with the culture of Malaysians either.

“STUPIDS….this not our culture…..other community (sic) go to school for study…but our community go to school for LOVE N FIGHT…” His comment received 11 “likes”.

Deva Moses meanwhile said, “No words to say.. .spoiling our culture name n their parents name.”

One Sumitah Sumi put it down to “puppy love” and overactive hormones and said she was sure the video would upset the parents of both kids when they saw it.

Alex Dominic meanwhile asked if the teachers in the couple’s school knew what was going on, and added, “End of the day , they both dont know what is ahead in their life, try to secure your life first, than think about love… puppy love.”

Others who seemed more supportive of the proposal, still advised both teens to concentrate on their studies first, with one Ranjini Murugan saying, “What a true & pure love. Amazing.”

Many others likened it to something one would most likely see in a Tamil movie.
