MALAYSIA IN COMA: POST AGM, NAJIB STILL BANKRUPT OF IDEAS, INTENT ONLY ON FIGHTING DR M, MUHYIDDIN

MALAYSIA IN COMA: POST AGM, NAJIB STILL BANKRUPT OF IDEAS, INTENT ONLY ON FIGHTING DR M, MUHYIDDIN
The most glaring evidence and outcome of the recently-concluded UMNO annual general assembly was undoubtedly that the political party continues to cast a pall of gloom over the nation by its dark presence.
If anything more can be gauged from this UMNO gathering, it is a certain fact that they are going down the wrong way. By harking on their hare-brained “Ketuanan Melayu” or Malay Supremacy ideology, UMNO has caused the silent majority of Malays to become ashamed and embarrassed.
This is because the larger majority of Malays, who do not support fully the ideals of UMNO, are of the opinion and view that there is no such thing as a superior race and that in the eyes of Almighty Allah everyone is equal, irrespective of race, religion or nationality.
This is where UMNO has erred greatly. UMNO has failed miserably to take into account that not only are the larger majority of Malays disappointed with them, but a growing many Malaysians have become angry and outraged by the hardcore racism exhibited by UMNO.
Nothing more can be further from the truth that even within UMNO there are rumblings of discontent and dissent and the cracks are beginning to appear on the façade of UMNO but it is being earnestly papered up to cover the fact that all is not well with the lynchpin political party of Barisan Nasional (BN).
Factionalism within UMNO
While UMNO’s propaganda machinery was quick to hide the fact that the political party is going through a crisis that has become protracted and prolonged, there is no mistaking the fact that the unhappiness present at this annual general assembly showed that it is due for some major changes and reform.
But the stumbling block appears to be those at the pinnacle of power within UMNO. These individuals are unwilling to let go and transform the political party to make it relevant. Instead these leaders of UMNO are trying to become some kind of junta hell-bent on clinging on to power.
Over the last two general elections the sway and hold, the grip of UMNO-BN over Malaysia has been steadily eroding and more and more Malaysians are jumping on the bandwagon to opt out of supporting them.
The prime reason for this is because many Malaysians firmly believe and are now irrevocably convinced that UMNO no longer champions democracy and have failed to subscribe to the tenets and obligations of democracy such as fair play, justice and meritocracy.
UMNO fails to play by the rules of the game
It has been quite a while since UMNO has erred from the path of democracy. If earlier the effects of not being compliant to democracy did not surface, now, under the specter of globalization, UMNO is a political party on the verge of cracking up and becoming redundant.
But the UMNO leadership has galvanized its propaganda machinery to promote the fallacy that all is well by churning facts and facts that have been doctored and manipulated to paint a rosy picture to the Malays but which shows in actuality and truth that they are not playing by the rules of the game.
In UMNO now, there is a schism, a dichotomy between creed and deed. It looks as if, seemingly , that on the surface UMNO is faring well, but look beyond the propaganda and hype and you will see that the rot has set in and a certain evil malaise or dark presence emerging within UMNO.
While the religious, the spiritual and the purists might argue and state that this is because UMNO members are actually ‘kafir’ or have become infidels, whether or not this is the reason for so many dark matters emerging out of UMNO, is hard to ascertain and certify or verify.
But what is certain is there is a great deal of suspicion and disquiet by many Malaysians over the way and manner in which UMNO leaders are supposedly involved in the untimely murders and deaths of Altantuya Sharribu, PI Bala, Hussain Najadi and Kevin Anthony Morais.
UMNO’s dubious and suspicious ways
In Malaysia now, if a person goes about the length and breadth of the country to discuss politics, there is easily available evidence that can be gathered that most Malays have shifted their political stance to a neutral position while the majority of Chinese and Indians swing with the opposition.
This is really the outcome and research of many independent political analysts and commentators that there is a growing shift of the political stance of most Malays to a neutral position and the fact that they are adopting a “wait-and-see” attitude.
It is these fence-sitting Malays for which the opposition is gunning overtime to join their fold. The reason for this stance taken by most Malays is that they believe there is no smoke without fire and that it is beyond doubt that there is more than a grain of truth to allegations against the prime minister.
This is why the belief of erstwhile prime minister Mahathir Mohammad and sacked deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin that the leadership of UMNO must change is gaining credence among Malaysians and Malays who believe that they are responsible for systematically destroying the nation.
UMNO in a do or die state
No one is indispensable. This is what most Malaysians realize and understand and in the coming months it remains to be seen to the run up to the 14th general election if the obstinacy displayed by Najib and the deadwood within UMNO for failing to step down will cause the rot that has set in to exacerbate.
There is a fine line between defiance and determination and whether Najib and his fellow inept and deadwood leaders are being defiant or determined will be known eventually, in due course and in time to come.
This is why it is better that Najib and these leaders of UMNO-BN who have evidently failed the country be removed from holding political positions as soon as possible or Malaysians will have to face up to the dire possibility that these misfiring leaders will cause greater damage to the country and people.
Malaysians failed badly and missed the opportunity to oust BN from power in the 13th GE and now they are paying the price and suffering miserably and are airing numerous grouses and complaints over a BN government who has not lived up to their expectations at all.
Virtually none of the promises of BN’s 13th GE manifesto has come to pass. In fact, what has actually been steadily taking place in a most frightening way and manner is the deterioration and regress of this country into almost Third World kind of conditions.
This is what most Malaysians who are better informed and better educated are able to deduce and this is why unless the whole bunch of the present crop of BN-UMNO leaders are replaced it will only be a matter of time before the death knell sounds on UMNO and BN. - MAILBAG
