MIC Youth is upset that no arrest has been made after party deputy president SK Devamany was assaulted in the vicinity of the MIC headquarters last week.
Youth chief C Sivarrajh said this is despite a police report lodged at the Dang Wangi station on the day of the incident on Dec 17.
The incident happened when hundreds thronged the the MIC head-office in Kuala Lumpur to demand recognition for their faction in connection with the prolonged MIC feud.
"On the day of the incident, there was heavy police presence in the vicinity, which I believe was to prevent any untoward incidents as such.
"The police were very much aware of the situation on that day.
"I thank the PDRM on behalf of MIC for their support but we in MIC are expecting an expedited investigation into the matter," Sivarrajh said in a statement today.
He added that further delay in this case would hurt police credibility especially since Devamany is also speaker of the Perak assembly.
Supporters of ousted president G Palanivel had last Thursday gathered at the party headquarters to demand party re-elections.
The party reportedly agreed to have two separate administrations, led by two secretary-generals aligned to Palanivel and elected president Dr S Subramaniam respectively, until the crisis is resolved.
This happened after five hours of heated discussion with pictures showing the presence of uniformed police personnel.
Devamany, however, later denied reports of separate administrations, saying that the meeting was to "return" the other branches aligned to Palanivel to the party.
Palanivel was automatically expelled in June after bringing party matters to court.
His faction had alleged a conspiracy between the pro-Subramaniam camp and the Registry of Societies (ROS) to topple him from being the party president, a claim ROS has denied. -Mkini
