Sabah will see an additional 13 state seats if the bill to allow the Election Commission to add seats is passed at the state legislative assembly when it starts its sitting on Aug 8.
However, Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) secretary-general Johnny Mositon said he could not disclose which areas will be carved out to make the additional constituencies.
He said the EC would exhibit the new seats for public viewing and objections.
“Initially, we were expecting some seven new seats, but now the government has agreed to 13.
“This is more than the 11 approved for Sarawak last year,” he is quoted by The Star as saying.
According to the daily, the new seats are speculated to be in the Kinabatangan, Beluran, Sandakan, Sepanggar, Lahad Datu, Tawau, Papar, Kota Marudu, Tawau, Kota Belud and Tuaran areas. - Mkini
