A 36-year-old medical doctor attached to a dental clinic in Bangsar has been charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today with causing the death of Syed Alman Zain Syed Ali, the son-in-law of Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Dr Ting Teck Chin, who is a specialist obstetric and gynaecologist, claimed trial to a charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder under Section 304(b) of the Penal Code.
If convicted, he faces a maximum jail term of 10 years.
Ting is alleged to have caused the death of Syed Alman at the Imperial Dental Clinic in Jalan Telawi, Bangsar between 6pm and 9.05pm on June 1 this year.
The accused was represented by senior lawyer K Kumaraendran, while DPP Mohd Abazafree Mohd Abbas prosecuted.
Sessions judge Zainal L Saleh set bail at RM20,000 with one surety and fixed Oct 17 for mention.
The clinic is presently facing a charge at another Sessions Court.
