Umno and the government have obtained a stay of hearing at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on an application by Anina Saadudin to declare Section 18c of the Societies Act, which bars any party members to bring their dispute in court, as unconstitutional.
This comes after Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor and organising secretary Abdul Rauf Yusoh applied to strike out the suit filed by the former Langkawi Umno member over her expulsion.
Judicial commissioner Roslan A Bakar allowed the stay pending the hearing on the application to strike out the suit.
"The striking out application will be heard on Oct 10," said lawyer Mohammad Raffique Rashid Ali who is acting for Anina.
This was later confirmed by counsel Mohd Hafarizam Harun who appeared for Umno.
