For Mahathir; It’s Trick or Treat!

(Malaysian Observer) – It seems that Tun Mahathir is playing his own version of Trick or Trick as he seems to be bent on tricking the rakyat under the guise of offering treats!
Now for those who are not familiar with Trick or Treat, the following may put it into perspective.
Beginning in the Middle-Ages, children and sometimes poor adults would dress up in costumes and go around door to door during Hallowmas begging for food or money in exchange for songs and prayers, often said on behalf of the dead.  This was called “souling” and the children were called “soulers”.
As anyone who has been in Malaysia over the last couple of years, if not only this year knows that Tun Mahathir has been at the forefront of the begging cue. He begged for the rakyat to believe him when he said that that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had siphoned off mega amounts of money, he begged for the rakyat to support the Citizen’s Declaration and Save Malaysia Rally.  He even begged for Malaysians to have a referendum to see if he were more popular than the Prime Minister.
The recent elections have all seemed to answer that referendum request.
Mahathir had the gumption to go as far as asking Malaysians to sign his petition. He thought that he received a million, but it turned out that he may not have gotten a third of that amount.
All through the process of trying to remove the Prime Minister, Mahathir along with DAP led Pakatan Harapan were trying to Trick the public into believing that they (Opposition and Mahathir) were on the verge of rescuing Malaysia from some intergalactic force that had the nation under its control.
Mahathir wanted to trick the rakyat into believing that he had the solution to Save Malaysia . His solution would come in the form of former deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin as his temporary choice for president and for vice president, former Menteri Besar of Kedah Mukhriz Mahathir. Mahathir was hoping that he could trick the rakyat into accepting his two (2) choices by offering them a treat.
And just what kind(s) of treat(s) pray tell?
The first was to give the impression that he and Anwar Ibrahim have put everything that happened and was said behind them. Or as Mahathir said stated ‘buried the hatchet’. (here)
Next, Mahathir tried to dangle oil money in front of the citizens in Kelantan thinking that it would put pressure on PAS to work against Barisan Nasional.
Examining the results to date; the tricks and the treats have all come up lacking. Therefore, it may be prudent for Mahathir and his opposition cohorts to start praying for GE14 because as things stand; their chances look quite dead!
