PETALING JAYA: PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali has strongly denied a claim that he is the person in several viral video clips depicting two men engaging in homosexual acts.
“This is nothing but a nefarious plot to assassinate my reputation and character in an attempt to destroy my political career,” he said in his first statement responding to allegations by the aide of a deputy minister.
Azmin, who is also the economic affairs minister, said that judging from recent political developments, the sex tape was clearly the latest in a series of concerted attempts to vilify him.
This includes, he said, threatening his family’s safety and “vile and baseless accusations of corruption”.
The Gombak MP said he has since instructed his lawyers to take legal action against those who made the “abominable allegations” as well as against other perpetrators.
“I will avail myself of all legal means at my disposal to expose these culprits.
“I will not submit to these cowardly acts and heinous attempts to distract the public from the pressing concerns of the nation.”
Earlier today, an aide to Deputy Primary Industries Minister Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin claimed that he was the individual seen in a viral video clip showing two men performing homosexual acts.
In a half-a-minute video uploaded on Facebook at about 3am today, Muhammad Haziq Aziz also identified Azmin as the second person featured in the clip.
Haziq, who is also the Santubong PKR Youth chief, also urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate the minister.
However, Santubong PKR chief Ahmad Nazib Johari denied that the man in the clip was Haziq. - FMT
