Couple and daughter remanded five days over abuse of two children

PETALING JAYA: A couple and their 13-year-old daughter, who were arrested for allegedly abusing two children who had been living with them, have been remanded for five days.

Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Ismadi Borhan said the suspects were remanded until June 20 while the two victims - an eight-year-old boy, and a seven-year-old girl - are still being treated at Serdang Hospital.

"We are still investigating the case.

"We aim to get to the bottom of the matter," he said when contacted Sunday (June 16).

It was reported that police rescued the two victims and discovered they were malnourished and had signs of abuse all over their bodies.

Police had rushed over to the couple's house in Pusat Bandar Puchong around 1pm on Saturday (June 15) after being tipped off by the public.

"We arrested a man, 33; his wife, 30; and their daughter, 13; who are all relatives to the victims.

"The two victims had been staying with the three after their parents had divorced about seven years ago," ACP Ismadi had said.

Police also seized a baton, a rubber hose and a silver fork, which had been used to abuse the children.- Star
