PAS MUKTAMAR | Former PAS Youth chief Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi finished top among the 18 elected to the party's central committee lineup in its 65th muktamar today.
PAS elections committee director Mohamad Fuad Salleh announced that Khalil, the son of party president Abdul Hadi Awang, received 956 votes, ahead of Jabi assemblyperson Azman Ibrahim with 947.
The incumbents who failed to make the list for the 2019-2021 term include Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria, and the party's sole assemblyperson in Penang, Yusni Mat Piah.
A total of 1,136 delegates cast their votes for the central committee lineup after the posts of president, deputy president and three vice-presidents were won uncontested.
A total of 29 candidates – featuring incumbents and newcomers – were nominated to contest for posts on the central committee.
Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar joined incumbents Idris Ahmad and Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah as PAS vice-presidents.
Former vice-president Iskandar Abdul Samad did not defend his post and opted instead to run for a central committee spot, finishing in sixth place with 856 votes.
