Haziq’s sex video is PH’s ‘greatest challenge’, says Kit Siang

DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang says Pakatan Harapan leaders must unite in the wake of the sex video controversy.
PETALING JAYA: Lim Kit Siang today labelled the gay sex video implicating a federal minister the “greatest challenge” to Pakatan Harapan since the May 9 polls and called for leaders to unite in the wake of the controversy.
For the past four days, the DAP supremo said, Malaysia has been “agog, haunted and hounded” following Haziq Aziz’s shocking revelations in which he said he was the person seen in several viral video clips showing two men performing homosexual acts, one of whom resembles a senior minister.
Haziq named Mohamed Azmin Ali as the other person in the video, a claim the economic affairs minister denies, saying it is aimed at killing his political career.
The PKR deputy president has also threatened legal action.
“There is no doubt that the Haziq sex video is the greatest challenge to Pakatan Harapan since the 14th general election in May last year and PH leaders must unite to forge ahead and not to be derailed from the New Malaysia agenda,” Lim, the Iskandar Puteri MP, said in a statement.
“Are Malaysians to save Malaysia from the trajectory of a failed, rogue and kleptocratic state only to allow the Haziq sex video to destroy the unique ‘Save Malaysia’ mission a year later?” he asked.
He expressed hope that the coming Dewan Rakyat meeting next month will not be preoccupied with the controversial video.
MPs in the ruling coalition, he said, should turn the coming meeting into “the most historic parliamentary session of the PH government where it delivers the promises of a New Malaysia”.
“Instead of the July 2019 meeting of Parliament being known as a Haziq sex video session, I would like to see it be known as the IPCMC Parliament,” he said, referring to the establishment of the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission.
Lim said Malaysians must give Inspector-General of Police Hamid Bador time to determine whether the sex video is authentic.
He also urged the public to trust the men in blue under a new IGP to carry out their duties independently, fairly and in a trustworthy manner to investigate the sex videos and the masterminds behind it.
Haziq, the private secretary of Deputy Primary Industries Minister Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, is being investigated for various offences, including carnal intercourse against the order of nature and distribution of obscene material. - FMT
