‘I FIRST GOT TO KNOW AZMIN WHEN I WAS STUDYING AT UNIVERSITI MALAYA’ – MINISTER’S ALLEGED GAY SEX LOVER HAZIQ DENIES BEING PAID MILLIONS & WAS TRYING TO RUN AWAY

HAZIQ Abdullah Abdul Azis, the man who admitted being in a sex video, denied he was paid to make accusations against Azmin Ali or that he tried to escape when he was detained by police at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport last week.
The former senior private secretary to a deputy minister told The Malaysian Insight he was stressed following the leak of the video clips and wanted a short holiday in Manila.
“For a short holiday, to calm my mind,” Haziq said in a WhatsApp interview.
“I was extremely stressed with what had happened.”
The PKR Santubong youth chief also denied rumours that he was paid millions of ringgit to admit to being the man with Azmin in the videos.
“It’s easy to accuse those who are already being victimised,” said the Universiti Malaya law graduate.
Haziq was yesterday sacked as senior private secretary to the deputy primary industries minister for his video confession where he admitted to having had intimate relationship with Azmin.
Azmin has denied being the man in the video with Haziq. He claimed to be a victim of slander, saying that the video was the work of parties seeking to destroy his political career.
The PKR deputy president also claimed to have only had minimal contact with Haziq and denied reports that the two were close.
However, Haziq told The Malaysian Insight he had known Azmin from his days as an undergraduate in UM and had grown close to the veteran politician from 2014.
I first got to know Azmin from when I was studying at Universiti Malaya. I assisted in Azmin’s election campaign when he was challenged by Khalid Ibrahim,” he said, referring to the former Selangor menteri besar.
“I was once the MC for the launch of his campaign ‘Keadilan Raya’ and helped to organise the deputy president’s forum with Keadilan undergraduates.”
Below are excerpts of his interview with The Malaysian Insight:
TMI: What do you have to say about Azmin’s repeated denials that he’s in the video? And his repeated claims that he is a victim of slander and an attempt to ruin his reputation?
Haziq: Denying is his right but let the police do their job, because my life has also been affected.
TMI: There are also accusations that there are hidden hands behind the circulation of the video. Do you know who is behind this? And who recorded the video?
Haziq: I want those responsible for the spreading (of the video) to be brought to justice.
TMI: After the video clips surfaced, there appears to be a greater grassroots division in PKR. Two camps, and supporters of Azmin and Anwar Ibrahim are trading words. Are you a victim of these warring factions?
Haziq: Differences in political stance in PKR have existed before this. Azmin and I are victims of circumstances because what we did behind closed doors has become viral.
TMI: There are accusations that you were paid millions of ringgit for your confession. True?
Haziq: It is very easy to accuse those who have been victimised.
TMI: What are your political plans? Your fellow student activists have said you have always been keen on being directly involved in politics.
Haziq: I have not been able to think about the future. Give me time to come back after this dark episode in my life.
