PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin today said that the party's Santubong Youth chief, Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz, would have been sacked from the party if she were the party president.
"Luckily, I am not the president; if I were the party president, I would have sacked him (Haziq) already.
"Because I had been seriously asked for the party to fire him, but the party wants to follow due process, then so be it," she told reporters in Putrajaya today.
Zuraida, who is the housing and local government minister, was met after an event held by the ministry and the Fire and Rescue Department.
She was responding to a reporter's request for comments over her demand last week that the party sack Haziq from PKR.
Haziq recently appeared in a video where he claimed that he and PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali were the persons in a sex video, which had gone viral on social media since the past two weeks.
Azmin, who is economic affairs minister, had since denied the allegation and branded it as a conspiracy to kill his political career.
Zuraida had on June 19 urged party leaders who attended the PKR political bureau meeting to fire Haziq for humiliating the party.
However, the bureau, which held its meeting on the same day, decided to slap Haziq with a show-cause letter, to which he was given 14 days to answer.
However, as of June 22, PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil said the party had yet to receive any explanation from Haziq. - Mkini
