Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail should hand over the post to her husband Anwar Ibrahim, said Selangor Bersatu treasurer Mohd Shaid Rosli (photo above).
Mohd Shaid, who is also Jeram assemblyperson, said that this was a necessary step in the transition plan which involves the handover of the prime minister post from Dr Mahathir Mohamad to Anwar.
"It is unlikely that Anwar can be appointed as prime minister while the deputy prime minister's position is held by his wife Wan Azizah, said Mohd Shaid in a statement today.
Pointing out that his suggestion was not an absurd one, he stated that while there were calls for Mahathir to step down immediately, the next move is clearly for Anwar to take over the DPM post from Wan Azizah.
"The issue of appointing the prime minister should be in accordance with the consent of the Presidential Council of Pakatan Harapan rather than it coming from one party," he said.
On June 14, the Otai Reformis (photo) group called on the prime minister to set a timeline to handover the top post, saying that the Putrajaya administration's performance was on the decline.
Shaid also said it would be better if the PKR leadership can resolve any internal issues it encounters within PKR without involving other parties in the Harapan coalition.
Alluding to a sensational video purportedly implicating PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali, he commented: "The new PKR scandal should not draw in any leaders from Haparan. Let PKR's internal issues be resolved by the party's own leadership."
