JOHOR BARU: The Johor royal family received a warm greeting from across the causeway on the first day of Hari Raya, with the arrival of a delegation from the Singapore government at Istana Bukit Serene here.
The delegation was led by Singaporean deputy prime minister Heng Swee Keat accompanied by ministry of foreign affairs minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan.
The delegation was greeted by Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar and Johor Permaisuri Raja Zarith Sofiah Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah.
Also present to greet them were Johor Princess Tunku Tun Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah and her husband Datuk Dennis Muhammad Abdullah, Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar, Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman and Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar.
During the hour-long audience, the guests were also treated to lunch featuring local festive delicacies.
Earlier, the Sultan also received a courtesy call from Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal and state executive councillors.- Star
