Latheefa confirms deputy leading probe on PKR minister

Newly minted MACC chief Latheefa Koya (photo, above) confirmed that her deputy would be leading an investigation launched over graft allegations involving a federal minister.
This was in reference to Umno supreme council Lokman Adam who yesterday lodged the MACC report against the minister who is from PKR. Latheefa was a former PKR member but resigned prior to assuming her post with the anti-graft body.
"MACC will investigate all reports professionally without favouring anyone.
"The investigation will be handled by my deputy and his investigation team.
"I will not be involved in any way, be it in the investigation or decisions on the matter," she said in a statement today.
Lokman had lodged the MACC report based on bank documents circulated together with a sex video implicating the minister.
The bank documents purportedly showed money being paid by a government-linked company to the minister's purported overseas bank account in 2017, prior to him joining the government.
Latheefa has three deputies, but MACC deputy commissioner (operations) Azam Baki is in charge of investigations.
Lokman had also lodged a separate police report on the sex video involving two men.
Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz, the senior private secretary to Deputy Primary Industries Minister Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin, claimed that he is the man in the video.
Haziq had also implicated the minister as being his partner in the video.
However, the authenticity of the video, as well as the bank documents, has not been ascertained. - Mkini
