'No need for Prime Minister's Question Time for now'

There is currently no need for a Prime Minister’s Question Time in parliament, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Liew Vui Keong.
“We have the Ministers’ Question Time (MQT) scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays and in the past one year, we have seen the prime minister coming to answer questions in parliament during MQT, as well as during the ordinary question time, so I think for now we don’t need a Prime Minister’s Question Time yet.
“In time, should the need arise, then we can probably consider that. For now, the MQT is sufficient,” he said.
He was speaking to reporters after delivering a keynote speech at the 'National High-Level Dialogue on Business and Human Rights' forum in Putrajaya today.
Liew said the upcoming parliamentary sitting in July will be “the most exciting time” because Putrajaya plans to introduce a number of bills that have been on the Pakatan Harapan’s agenda for a while.
“As you know, the transformation of law cannot be done overnight. It has to take a period of time, and I have done quite a number of laws that I will introduce on the first day of July (parliamentary sitting),” he said.
He added that he will meet with relevant government agencies tomorrow to see what are the respective laws they have in mind to either introduce, amend or repeal completely.
Among some of the bills that may be introduced in the upcoming parliamentary sitting, he said, would be the constitutional amendment to lower the voting age to 18 years, as well as the abolition of the mandatory death sentence for murders, and the bill on Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC).
“I will make the announcement on Monday when you come to parliament. If I were to tell you now, then there would be no surprises on Monday,” he said. - Mkini
