No need for Wan Azizah to step down - PKR Youth leader

There is no need for Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to relinquish the deputy prime minister’s post for her husband Anwar Ibrahim to become prime minister, said PKR Youth secretary Chua Wei Kiat (above).
The Rawang assemblyperson wants Pakatan Harapan to respect the transition plan which had been agreed upon.
“The agreement in Harapan is for Dr Wan Azizah to remain as deputy prime minister, and Dr Mahathir Mohamad to be the prime minister until handing over the position to Anwar,” said Chua in a statement today.
“This agreement was brought up again and received unanimous support during the PKR AGM last year, even though Dr Wan Azizah had just relinquished her position as party president.”
Chua released the statement to rebut Bersatu Jeram state assemblyperson Mohd Shaid Rosli’s call for Wan Azizah to hand over the DPM’s position to her husband.
Shaid said that Anwar becoming DPM was a necessary step for the handover of the prime minister’s post to happen.
“Harapan leaders should not create confusion, and instead provide enough space for the transition process, which is currently being discussed by Dr Mahathir and Anwar, to happen,” added Chua. - Mkini
