PAS MUKTAMAR | A PAS central delegate from Selangor has warned Malay-Muslims against threats from the DAP which he insisted was a "reincarnation" of Singapore's PAP under the republic's late prime minister Lee Kuan Yew.
Selangor PAS election director Roslan Shahir Mohd Shahir (photo, above) cautioned that unless PAS and Umno cooperate as the two largest Malay-Muslim political parties, Malaysia is doomed to turn into a "second Singapore" with no regard for special rights for Malays and bumiputera.
"We Malay-Muslims who are entrusted to lead Malays, Chinese, Indians, Muruts, Ibans, Orang Asal and others... we need to unite our strengths.
"The uniting of the two largest Malay parties is to plan a straight fight against (Pakatan) Harapan," said Roslan in his debate on PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's policy speech at the 65th PAS muktamar (assembly) in Kuantan.
"The big threat, if we are lackdaisal, (will see) our dignity compromised and our nation compromised... not impossible for us to become a second Singapore," he claimed.
In his speech, Roslan noted that the people, without realising DAP's influence among Harapan parties, had rejected PAS in an overwhelming desire for change in GE14.
"We in Selangor have a lot of experience after two terms with them (Harapan) in the state government.
"In that overwhelming desire for change, they did not realise that the party that came to power is a reincarnation of the Lee Kuan Yew party (PAP)," he said.
Roslan further claimed that the DAP's agenda includes ensuring a separation between religion and state, unlike PAS' stand that Islam should lead as part of the administration.
The DAP has repeatedly denied claims of an agenda to undermine Malay-Muslim rights or that it still has ties to the PAP.
The party's critics, however, insisted DAP was indirectly pushing Harapan to accept its "Malaysian Malaysia" agenda. - Mkini
