PAS doesn't see Harapan lasting long due to internal conflict

PAS MUKTAMAR | PAS believes the current internal strife afflicting Pakatan Harapan signals the impending end of the ruling coalition.
In his winding-up speech at the 65th PAS muktamar today, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man claimed that the four parties in Harapan would not stay together for much longer.
"With Harapan's internal conflicts, bickering among them, unresolved issues faced by the people and the country's financial crisis, we don't foresee that Harapan will last very long," he said.
Given the current circumstances, Tuan Ibrahim said that PAS machinery at all levels must be prepared to face the possibility of an early 15th general election.
"All party machinery must be prepared for the general election to be called earlier than we expect.
"Insya Allah we must be ready to face the elections at any time," he said.
On a personal level, Tuan Ibrahim also urged PAS leaders, members and supporters to bring themselves closer to God and seek His forgiveness.
"Seek forgiveness from Allah SWT for all our misdeeds, as there is the fear that because of our misdeeds, it could lead to a delay in victory for Islam.
"If we cannot help the jemaah (congregation), don't burden the jemaah. If we can't help our leaders, don't burden our leaders," he stressed.
PAS' burgeoning ties with Umno ahead of GE15 was a highly discussed topic by delegates and leaders during the muktamar, which ends today.
Yesterday, over 1,000 PAS central muktamar delegates passed a motion to upgrade and formalise ties with Umno through a tahaluf siyasi pact – similar to its previous alliance with the now-defunct Pakatan Rakyat. - Mkini
