CYBERJAYA: Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng today revealed that a journalists union in Penang was among recipients of money linked to 1MDB.
The former Penang chief minister also advised the union to return the money voluntarily.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission recently said it was filing forfeiture suits against 41 individuals and entities, which it said received RM270 million of 1MDB money which was transferred to Najib Razak’s account.
“I ask those who received money from Yayasan 1MDB, 1MDB or 1MDB charity bodies to consider returning the monies.
“Don’t wait for MACC to send the list and freeze your account,” he told a Hari Raya event hosted by the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN).
Lim said the list revealed by MACC was just the tip of the icerberg.
But he said he believed the recipients should not be accused of involvement in the 1MDB scandal. - FMT
