Its time the federal government look into these matters and give equal opportunities to others as well.

ReplyDeleteOpening up Petrol Kiosk is the prerogative of any oil companies. There is no quota given out to any petroleum companies. You can open up as many petrol kiosks you want, as long as you obtain the approval from highways concessionaires (e.g PLUS, LEKAS, LATAR, West Coast etc) and observed the guidelines from RTD, Fire & Rescue Department and local municipalities.
Let say I have a suitable piece of land to build a petrol kiosk. So I have go to local authorities and obtain approval for this purpose. Once I have the approval, I would approach any oil companies... PETRONAS, SHELL, BHP, ESSO, CALTEX,PETRON, Syarikat Pam Minyak Haji Abu, Ah Keong Petrol Kiosk etc. I could chose any of them, normally who offers the highest price for my land, either on 25 year leasing or outright sale. If I give it to SHELL, no one from PM's Office would come and threaten to strangle me because I did not offer my land to PETRON. Did you get my point?
