PKR comms director: Sex video culprits well-funded, well-organised

PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil believes the culprits behind the spread of sex videos purportedly featuring PKR deputy president Azmin Ali are well-funded and well-organised.
He cited how the culprits curated the WhatsApp groups used to spread the videos.
"These WhatsApp groups didn't just have people from PKR in them, but also members of the media from all languages.
"This shows they must have access to some sort of database, and that they're well-funded and well-organised to have all these contact numbers.
"They knew who to add, curating these groups with the specific intent to show the media as though this was an internal PKR matter," Fahmi told Malaysiakini.
Four sex videos, purportedly featuring Azmin, had been distributed via WhatsApp since Tuesday.
For the first batch of videos, several groups named "Jemputan Hari Raya Azmin" were created on June 11 and then filled with journalists and politicians before the videos were distributed.
Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz claimed to have been one of the men featured in the videos.
Aside from alleging that Azmin and himself were the two men in the clips, Haziq urged the MACC to investigate the minister for alleged corruption and claimed that Azmin was not fit to be a leader.
Similarly, several groups titled "Azmin Ali Part 2/4" were created on June 12 to distribute another video purportedly of the economic affairs minister.
The second set of groups were created just two hours after Azmin denied being featured in the videos, and just as PKR president Anwar Ibrahim was about to hold a press conference.
Fahmi, who is also Lembah Pantai MP, said it was clear that whoever was behind the spread of the videos had a specific political agenda.
However, he said he could not say if the videos were authentic or fake.
Asked whether he would take the matter to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, Fahmi said the authority was most likely already working with police on the issue. - Mkini
