PKR members seek Anwar's intervention over 'kratom addict' leader

Perlis PKR members are seeking party president Anwar Ibrahim's intervention over complaints against a state leader whom they claim is a "kratom addict".
The Padang Besar PKR members, led by its deputy chairperson Wan Mohamad Fishaal Wan Daud, submitted a memorandum to Anwar on May 24 regarding the matter.
Sources told Malaysiakini that the same memo was also given to other senior PKR leaders including deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali, secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution and vice-presidents Zuraida Kamaruddin, Xavier Jayakumar and Tian Chua.
Wan Mohamed Fishaal, when contacted, declined to elaborate on his complaint.
"I didn't submit the memorandum to you, I submitted it to the president and deputy president. I don't want to comment, I'm sorry," he told Malaysiakini.
According to party sources, the eight-page memorandum claimed PKR members had lost faith in the leader, whom they alleged to be a kratom addict.
It also questioned the leader's decision to dismiss several members, and accused the leader of failing to engage voters.
Malaysiakini had contacted the leader, who claimed to be busy, and had been unable to reach him again since.
A response from the PKR secretary-general and Perlis PKR is also being sought. - Mkini
