PETALING JAYA: Police have questioned Haziq Aziz for a second time following his claim last week that he and Mohamed Azmin Ali were involved in homosexual acts.
Haziq’s lawyer, Ramesh Sivakumar, said his client was questioned for seven hours between 8pm yesterday and 3am today at the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman before he was freed.
“He answered all their questions and everything went on well,” Ramesh told FMT.
Last Friday, Haziq was picked up at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang, where he was said to be departing for Manila, and was held under police custody for a day before being released on police bail.
Two days earlier, he admitted in a video recording that he was one of two men filmed engaging in homosexual acts at a hotel in Sandakan last month.
He also named Azmin, who is the economic affairs minister and PKR deputy president, as the other person in the video.
Azmin denied the claim, saying it was a “nefarious plot” to end his political career.
CID chief Huzir Mohamed said Haziq was being investigated for carnal intercourse against the order of nature and distribution of obscene material.
Haziq is being probed under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which criminalises the use of network facilities or network services by a person to transmit any communication that is deemed to be offensive.
He is also being investigated for intending to provoke a breach of public peace.
Police also recorded a statement from Azmin on Monday. Today, the minister’s political secretary, Muhammad Hilman Idham, gave his statement to the police, the third since Sunday.
Hilman, who arrived at the Bukit Aman police headquarters at 10.05am, was accompanied by his lawyer, Muhammad Hafiz Hood. He came out three hours later.
The Gombak Setia assemblyman said apart from himself, a police escort of Azmin also had his statement recorded over the sex video. - FMT
